A reflection of nine unique friends and her mother’s loving encouragement inspired dress designer Laura Bemister six years ago to create her own line.

After hiring pattern maker, Laura rolled out her vision – part of her own prophecy as a child recognizing her mother looked great in some colours but “not the style.” She initially found a few dress shops to carry them. Then two years ago Laura lost her mother to an aggressive form of brain cancer and asked herself, “Seriously what do you want to do with your life.”

She felt incredibly lucky for her mother’s influence having once opened art gallery together. Laura knew piloting another retail business may not be the best option. So Laura took the leap. Dropping stores as a wholesaler, she chose to make her Vancouver manufactured dresses available online with an inspiring dual purpose – to provide unwavering support to women with no-one.

Giving the extra proceeds to women’s transition houses, Laura began her own campaign of love and support Dresses for a Cause.
